We entered the Port of Papeete at noon today. We proceeded down channel to Marina Taina Anchorage. We are obviously elated and relieved to be here. The anchorage is very pretty and the boat is not moving finally after 22 days. It was a windy morning but once in the lee of Tahiti the wind became calm. So we are here and a bit overwhelmed with what do to first. We already meet some friendly boat neighbors who gave us some good tips. Now I mostly need a shower and a complete night of sleep.

Way to go Ron! I've been following your trip while I was "land cruising" across the USA. We are very excited you reached Papeete. I've drove at least 2500 miles in the last three weeks. I hear the those Tahiti girls are gorgeous!

There are so many fables about Tahiti that I can recall.
It is known as The Garden of Eden,The Isle of Love,The island of sweet laziness.
You have joined the ranks of the early explorers like Mendana, Quiros, Le Maire, Schouten,Rogerveen,Byron,Bouganville,
Willis,Vancouver,Captain Cook,Captain Bligh,
and Fletcher Christia (Mutiny on the Bounty) and the painter Gagauin.
Homer dreamnt a long time ago of the chanting of the coral reef far out at sea unceasing day and night of the song the sirens sang to Ulysses.
There is a national dish of large cooked banana called "fei" which has magical powers like the Lotus seeds of Homer's Tales which when eaten will surely call you back to Tahiti.Captain Cook sailed there 3 times.
The islands of Moorea,Bora Bora ,Rangiroa are famous for the turquiose and clear waters and rising out of the sea the steep volcanic peaks.
Many who went to Hawaii never returned home.
A paradise indeed.

Amazing- and a fantastic achievement - Well done Ron and Ling. Hmm, I seem to recall singing "Red sails a-sailing upon a stormy sea" to Ling - never thinking that it would be literal one day!!
